XI International Scientific Conference "Faces of Prosperity"

On behalf of the Rector of the Powiślański University, Dr. Katarzyna Strzała-Osuch, Prof. PSW, and the Organizing Committee, we cordially invite you to participate in the XI International Scientific Conference "Faces of Prosperity", which will be held at the Powiślański University headquarters at 18 Mariana Smoluchowskiego Street in Gdansk on May 25, 2024, during the largest cyclical event organized by the institution - International Week '24.
May 25 will undoubtedly be the culminating day of International Week '24! It will be a time largely devoted to the presentation of scientific research that will be discussed just during the 11th International Scientific Conference, entitled "Faces of Prosperity". The conference will create a space for the clash of ideas and scientific methods of experienced researchers from different parts of the world, and for the speakers themselves it will be a chance to present the results of their research and receive feedback, reactions from such a diverse academic community gathered at the same time in one place.
The idea of the meeting is to make the title concept of well-being a reference point for deliberation and discussion by a wide range of researchers from different scientific fields. It should be noted that in the last few decades the scope of meaning of this concept has expanded significantly, going far beyond the currents of utilitarianism. The category of well-being should be considered not only in the context of wealth creation and fair criteria for its distribution, but also in relation to the overall quality of life and more broadly well-being understood as the general well-being of the individual with the clearly emphasized importance of psychological factors.
Each conference will be divided into Polish and English-language sections. The event is completely free of charge for each potential participant except for those who would be interested in publishing an article in the post-conference monograph. Conference speakers who would like to publish an article in the Monograph are required to pay a fee of 250 PLN, but the presentation and performance itself is not included in the fee.
Scope of the conference
We invite you to join us in an interdisciplinary discourse that will shed light from different angles on such issues as:
- prosperity vs. economic affluence,
- Welfare versus social justice,
- welfare vs. health,
- Well-being and the challenges of medicine and health sciences,
- welfare vs. education,
- Welfare versus the way the state operates,
- Welfare versus the political system,
- Prosperity versus environmental quality.
Registration for the 11th International Scientific Conference "Faces of Prosperity" is scheduled until April 10, 2024. Submission of abstracts for speeches is scheduled until April 24, while submission of texts for publication is scheduled until May 15, 2024.

Participants of the Scientific Conference "Faces of Prosperity" have the opportunity to publish their papers as a chapter in a scientific monograph, which will be published by the Powiślański University Publishing House in electronic form in Open Access mode. The XI International Scientific Conference "Faces of Prosperity" will be accompanied by the VI International Student Conference, which will be held at the University's second location - at 11 Jana Heweliusza Street (Organika Trade, 2nd floor). We warmly encourage Students to participate.
